We offer competitively priced biomethane, thanks to the inherent cost advantage of landfill gas and the proven efficiency of our WAGABOX® upgrading technology. Buyers benefit from stable, predictable energy costs with no compromise on quality.

Measurable Climate Impact

By sourcing biomethane exclusively from landfill gas, we deliver a direct and measurable reduction in methane emissions, providing buyers with a verifiable climate benefit that supports their ESG and CSR commitments.

Flexible Offtake Solutions

We provide flexible offtake solutions tailored to your needs, whether through renewable energy certificates only or bundled with physical biomethane, and with contract durations ranging from short-term to long-term to match your operational and budget requirements.

Biomethane Meeting
the Strictest Standards

Methane Purity & Calorific Value

Our biomethane features a methane content of 97–98% and a calorific value equivalent to high-calorific natural gas (“H gas”), making it fully interchangeable and indistinguishable from fossil natural gas once injected into the grid.

01/03

Certified Green Value

Our biomethane delivers trusted and verifiable environmental attributes, backed by certification under leading frameworks — including the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) for RED II, the French Certificat de Production de Biométhane (CPB), and the U.S. Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS).

02/03

Universal Grid Compatibility

Designed to meet the most stringent technical requirements, our biomethane is fully compatible with existing infrastructures—including gas grids, industrial equipment, boilers, and CNG fleets. It complies with strict limits on CO₂, O₂, sulfur, and trace components, and can also be compressed and transported by truck (“virtual pipeline”) where grid access is not available.

03/03

WAGABOX® units operate globally via long-term partnerships with landfills and authorities, with multiple projects aiming to make renewable natural gas widely accessible.

WAGABOX® Technology

Developed and patented by Waga Energy, the revolutionary WAGABOX® technology converts landfill gas into grid-quality renewable natural gas.

WAGABOX® technology upgrades raw landfill gas into pipeline-quality biomethane. Combining advanced purification and separation processes, it ensures high methane recovery, consistent performance, and long-term environmental compliance for landfill operators.

Expert review
of the landfill owner

Waga Energy supplies its customers with sustainable biomethane produced from biogas generated at waste storage sites. This local, renewable energy source is available around the clock and firmly rooted in local communities.

Our customers—including energy utilities, industrial companies and local authorities—rely on us to secure a high-quality biomethane supply that meets regulatory requirements, complies with gas grid specifications and aligns with recognised sustainability standards (RED, CFR, RFS, etc.).

Beyond regulatory compliance, our biomethane is increasingly recognised as a direct decarbonisation solution, helping organisations achieve their low-carbon targets through the direct substitution of fossil natural gas. For an equivalent climate impact, biomethane produced using the WAGABOX® technology is structurally more cost-competitive than biomethane derived from anaerobic digestion, combining strong environmental performance with cost control throughout the contract term.

Compatible with gas grid injection and suitable for storage, this renewable energy source offers a unique advantage: continuous availability, independent of weather conditions. Combined with its associated environmental attributes, it provides a decarbonised, dispatchable energy solution at a stable and predictable price.

Frequently
Asked Questions

How does Waga Energy ensure a consistent and reliable supply of biomethane?

Waga Energy operates a fleet of WAGABOX® units monitored 24/7 by its Operations team. This continuous supervision helps anticipate deviations and maintain a high level of availability. In the event of temporary gas quality non-compliance, the gas is automatically reprocessed in a closed loop before being injected into the network. Long-term contracts (15 to 20 years) provide visibility on production volumes and help secure supply.

Is the biomethane supplied by Waga Energy certified and backed by guarantees of origin?

The biomethane injected into the gas grid is accompanied by Guarantees of Origin (GOs) registered in national or European registries. In Europe, WAGABOX® units with a capacity exceeding 20 GWh/year are ISCC EU certified, demonstrating compliance with the sustainability and greenhouse gas reduction criteria of the RED II Directive. These certificates enable buyers to account for their renewable gas consumption in carbon reporting and CSR disclosures.

What contractual arrangements does Waga Energy offer to secure long-term biomethane supply?

Waga Energy markets biomethane through private purchase agreements known as Biomethane Purchase Agreements (BPAs). These long-term contracts may include a fixed price, a price indexed to benchmark market prices, or a combination of both. Buyers can therefore choose between securing their energy costs or maintaining exposure to market prices, depending on their procurement strategy.

How does Waga Energy help companies integrate biomethane into their CSR and low-carbon strategies?

Waga Energy provides Guarantees of Origin and avoided-emissions data that enable companies to incorporate biomethane into their carbon accounting and CSR reporting. Biomethane directly replaces fossil natural gas, helping to reduce companies’ Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions.

Can Waga Energy biomethane be used as a substitute for natural gas in industrial processes?

Biomethane injected into the gas grid is chemically identical to natural gas and complies with the same technical specifications (composition, calorific value, pressure). It can be used for all industrial applications—including furnaces, boilers, combined heat and power (CHP) systems, and high-precision thermal processes—without any modification to existing equipment. It is a direct substitute that enables energy decarbonization while preserving existing infrastructure.
