La CCSWA seleccion\u00f3 a Waga Energy mediante un proceso competitivo de licitaci\u00f3n para producir biometano a partir de los residuos de un vertedero local.<\/p>\n<p>La nueva unidad WAGABOX\u00ae, que ser\u00e1 construida e instalada pr\u00f3ximamente por Waga Energy, transformar\u00e1 el gas captado en el vertedero en biometano, una energ\u00eda renovable que se inyectar\u00e1 directamente en la red local de distribuci\u00f3n de gas.<\/p>\n<p>Esta colaboraci\u00f3n forma parte de una visi\u00f3n a largo plazo compartida por ambas organizaciones, ya que se prev\u00e9 que la unidad WAGABOX\u00ae opere durante al menos 20 a\u00f1os. La CCSWA y Waga Energy compartir\u00e1n los ingresos generados por la venta del biometano producido durante toda la vigencia del contrato.<\/p>\n<p>La unidad podr\u00e1 tratar hasta <strong>3.200 Nm\u00b3\/h<\/strong> de biog\u00e1s bruto y producir\u00e1 m\u00e1s de <strong>130 GWh de biometano al a\u00f1o<\/strong>. Adem\u00e1s, permitir\u00e1 evitar la emisi\u00f3n de m\u00e1s de <strong>27.000 toneladas de CO\u2082 equivalente al a\u00f1o<\/strong> en comparaci\u00f3n con el uso de combustibles f\u00f3siles, lo que equivale a evitar las emisiones derivadas del consumo de <strong>2,8 millones de galones de gasolina al a\u00f1o<\/strong>, seg\u00fan la metodolog\u00eda de c\u00e1lculo de la Agencia de Protecci\u00f3n Ambiental de Estados Unidos (EPA).<\/p>\n<p>Este proyecto de colaboraci\u00f3n representa un importante avance en la promoci\u00f3n de la econom\u00eda circular y contribuye a la lucha contra el cambio clim\u00e1tico.
