This is Waga Energy\u2019s first WAGABOX\u00ae project in Italy.<\/p>\n<p>The WAGABOX\u00ae unit at Terranuova Bracciolini will be commissioned in 2026 and is expected to produce up to 29 GWh of biomethane per year, equivalent to the annual energy consumption of approximately 3,400 households in Italy. The project will prevent the emission of around 5,900 tonnes of CO\u2082 equivalent per year by replacing fossil natural gas with renewable gas.<\/p>\n<p>As part of this project, Waga Energy will purchase biogas produced from landfill waste from CSAI and upgrade it into biomethane, a renewable substitute for fossil natural gas, using its patented WAGABOX\u00ae technology. The biomethane will be injected into the local gas transmission network and sold to an energy supplier under a 10-year Biomethane Purchase Agreement (BPA).<\/p>\n<p>Closed since 2022 and now in its post-operational phase, the Podere Rota site continues to produce biogas, currently used for electricity generation through gas engines. The WAGABOX\u00ae unit deployed by Waga Energy at the CSAI site will optimise biogas management to deliver highly efficient, locally produced renewable energy. Supported by existing gas infrastructure, this energy can be easily stored and transported, contributing to lower greenhouse gas emissions, reduced dependence on fossil fuels in transport, industry and heating, and enhanced regional energy independence.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"et_pb_row_2 et_pb_row et_flex_row et_animated post-text-row\">\n<div class=\"et_pb_column_2 et_pb_column et-last-child et_flex_column et_pb_css_mix_blend_mode_passthrough et_flex_column_24_24 et_flex_column_24_24_tablet et_flex_column_24_24_phone\">\n<div class=\"et_pb_cta_1 et_pb_promo et_pb_bg_layout_light et_pb_module et_flex_module post-text\"><div class=\"et_pb_promo_description\"><div class=\"et_pb_promo_content\"><p>\u201cCSAI is the first waste management company in Italy to adopt the WAGABOX\u00ae technology, which is already deployed in France, Spain, the United States and Canada.
