Waga Energy is proud to announce a new contract with Kern County to design, build, operate and maintain a biomethane production unit at Bena Landfill in Bakersfield, California. Under a 20-year offtake agreement, the University of California will purchase the biomethane produced, reinforcing its commitment to sustainability, renewable energy and tackling climate change.<\/p>\n

Once operational, the WAGABOX\u00ae unit at Bena Landfill will be the third in California and the thirteenth in the United States. This project strengthens Waga Energy\u2019s leadership in landfill gas recovery and biomethane production while helping to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.<\/p>\n

Once commissioned, the WAGABOX\u00ae unit will produce more than 161 GWh of biomethane per year over the term of the agreement, delivering grid-quality gas to the local Kinder Morgan pipeline and providing the community with a reliable and renewable source of energy. The project will avoid approximately 30,000 tonnes of CO\u2082 equivalent emissions annually and improve air quality across the region. This reduction is equivalent to the emissions generated by heating 12,000 homes per year.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n
