Established in the Golden Triangle region (Beaumont, Port Arthur and Orange) since 2010, OCI Global continues to demonstrate its commitment to sustainable local development. The biomethane project, carried out in partnership with Waga Energy and the City of Beaumont, supports this ambition while contributing to OCI Global\u2019s green methanol production.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The project involves the installation of a gas capture system to collect emissions generated by the decomposition of organic waste. These gases will then be upgraded into <strong>biomethane<\/strong> by a <strong>WAGABOX\u00ae<\/strong> unit and injected into the local gas network.<\/p>\n<p>The initiative is expected to create around <strong>20 jobs during the construction phase<\/strong>, in addition to the <strong>300 jobs<\/strong> already generated by OCI Global in the region. It will also provide additional revenues to the City of Beaumont once the unit becomes operational.<\/p>\n<p>The WAGABOX\u00ae unit will be built and operated by Waga Energy, while OCI Global will own the biomethane production. This innovative business model in the United States could potentially be replicated at other landfill sites.<\/p>\n<p>Scheduled to enter service in 2025, the project will avoid the emission of approximately <strong>27,440 tonnes of CO\u2082 equivalent per year<\/strong>, equivalent to the emissions generated by the consumption of <strong>2.8 million gallons of petrol annually<\/strong>, according to the methodology of the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). A further environmental benefit will be the reduction of methane emissions, one of the most powerful greenhouse gases.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"et_pb_row_2 et_pb_row et_flex_row et_animated post-text-row\">\n<div class=\"et_pb_column_2 et_pb_column et-last-child et_flex_column et_pb_css_mix_blend_mode_passthrough et_flex_column_24_24 et_flex_column_24_24_tablet et_flex_column_24_24_phone\">\n<div class=\"et_pb_cta_1 et_pb_promo et_pb_bg_layout_light et_pb_module et_flex_module post-text\"><div class=\"et_pb_promo_description\"><div class=\"et_pb_promo_content\"><p>\u201cWe\u2019re excited about this partnership with Waga Energy and the City of Beaumont, which will not only secure a sustainable source of biomethane for OCI HyFuels, but will also help the City significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
