The project marks Waga Energy\u2019s first development in New Jersey, expanding the company\u2019s footprint in the Northeastern United States.<\/p>\n<p>Selected through a competitive tender process in early 2025, Waga Energy will build, own and operate the facility under a 20-year agreement. Using its proprietary WAGABOX\u00ae technology, the unit will upgrade landfill gas into grid-quality biomethane for injection into the local gas network.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"et_pb_row_2 et_pb_row et_flex_row et_animated post-text-row\">\n<div class=\"et_pb_column_2 et_pb_column et-last-child et_flex_column et_pb_css_mix_blend_mode_passthrough et_flex_column_24_24 et_flex_column_24_24_tablet et_flex_column_24_24_phone\">\n<div class=\"et_pb_cta_1 et_pb_promo et_pb_bg_layout_light et_pb_module et_flex_module post-text\"><div class=\"et_pb_promo_description\"><h2 class=\"et_pb_module_header\">Maximising Energy Recovery<\/h2><div class=\"et_pb_promo_content\"><p>Designed to process up to <strong>1,610 Nm\u00b3\/h<\/strong> of landfill gas, the facility will produce approximately <strong>60 GWh of biomethane per year<\/strong>. The project will avoid up to <strong>15,800 tonnes of CO\u2082 equivalent emissions annually<\/strong>, comparable to eliminating the emissions associated with the consumption of approximately <strong>1.5 million gallons of diesel fuel<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"et_pb_row_3 et_pb_row et_flex_row et_animated post-text-row\">\n<div class=\"et_pb_column_3 et_pb_column et-last-child et_flex_column et_pb_css_mix_blend_mode_passthrough et_flex_column_24_24 et_flex_column_24_24_tablet et_flex_column_24_24_phone\">\n<div class=\"et_pb_cta_2 et_pb_promo et_pb_bg_layout_light et_pb_module et_flex_module post-text\"><div class=\"et_pb_promo_description\"><h2 class=\"et_pb_module_header\">Supporting the Local Community<\/h2><div class=\"et_pb_promo_content\"><p>The CMCMUA Secure Sanitary Landfill serves all sixteen municipalities within Cape May County. While the county\u2019s permanent population is approximately 98,000 residents, its popularity as a holiday destination increases the population to more than 750,000 people during the summer months.<\/p>\n<p>The CMCMUA Secure Sanitary Landfill receives approximately 180,000 tonnes of waste per year. Landfill gas is currently used to generate electricity through a combined heat and power (CHP) engine.
